ticker tape parade 2009
ticker tape parade 2009 has been in the news show today so i considered you may require to read about it here.
As we have recently reported The New York Yankees have won the World Series for the 27th time, and the Yankees will celebrate in traditional New York fashion, with a ticker tape parade up the Canyon of Heroes on Friday.
At 11 a.m From the Battery to City Hall starting, the Bronx Bombers will be swimming in a sea of confetti and congratulatory cheers on lower Broadway from the Battery to City Hall. The parade plans have been unveiled by Mayor Bloomberg after the Yankees victory.
Mayor Bloomberg will present the keys to the city to the victors at a City Hall ceremony right after the triumphant march. There is only a limited amount of space at the City Hall celebration so only a few tickets are available, however anyone can line the route of the parade.
This will be the 178th ticker-tape parade on Broadway and the first since February 2008, when the Giants won the Super Bowl. 36 tons of paper was used for the Giants’ parade and a similar bulk is expected this time. The city says the parade will cost about the same as last year’s for the Giants. Those festivities came to $331,000.

bob mcdonnell
There is a load of facts about bob mcdonnell that you may or not find reusable.
Republican Bob McDonnell announced his candidacy for governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia nearly 14 months ago, and today he announced that he would be resigning his post as Attorney General of the Commonwealth as of February 20, 2009. Stepping down from his position as Virginia's Attorney General was a difficult decision, according to McDonnell, and his decision was based partly upon the tradition of former Attorney Generals seeking higher office stepping down to keep the Attorney General's office free from politics. He also noted that campaigning to be Virginia's governor is a full-time job in it of itself. Unlike many politicians nationwide, including Barack Obama and John McCain, who opt to hold onto their political offices until election results are tallied, McDonnell recognizes that Virginians need and deserve a full-time Attorney General focusing on the needs of the commonwealth instead of focusing upon their own political campaigns. A video of McDonnell's announcement is available on YouTube and is sourced below.
Bob McDonnell, Michael Steele and the Commonwealth of Virginia
It is no secret that the 2008 presidential election held many surprises, including red Virginia turning blue for Obama. Many Republicans state-wide lost their seats to democrats and the losses were a blow to the Republican party here in Virginia. Turning Virginia blue was a key piece to securing a democratic win for the presidency and on November 5, it was painfully apparent that Republicans dropped the ball. The RNC, still licking its wounds, recently elected former Maryland Lieutenant Governor, Michael Steele, to head the party. Fox News reports that Michael Steele already has a plan to revive the GOP. Michael Steele's plan will focus on helping Republicans to win several key races in the near future, including the governorship of Virginia, up for grabs this November. Bob McDonnell's decision to step down as Virginia's Attorney General speaks volumes, showing that fully understands that the race for governor will be a hard fought battle and one that he needs to devote all of his time and resources to winning.
Tim Kaine, Virginia's current Democratic governor, is unable run as an incumbent due to term limits imposed in Virginia's Constitution. Former DNC chair, Terry McAuliffe, is seeking the democratic nomination, as are State Senator Creigh Deeds, who represents Charlottesville City, and Brian Moran, a former House of Delegates member who resigned in December to devote himself full-time to his campaign for governor. As the only Republican candidate, Bob McDonnell has the advantage of not having to beat other opponents in a primary. This race will be one to watch in 2009.
